Hear from Gina Paglucia Morrison, Executive Director, about BHV’s upcoming 20th Anniversary and her work in Boston.  In January of 2002, the inaugural Beacon Hill Village (BHV) began what was to become a National Village Moment. “BHV’s initial focus was to help its members remain in the multi-generational neighborhoods they love, living their lives to the fullest as they age. It now sees that mission in the larger context of creating opportunities to choose how aging is lived and to change how aging is valued.” (Beacon Hill Times, 2019)

Barbara Hughes Sullivan, the National Director of The Village to Village (VtV) Network will be on hand to speak about national trends in the Village Movement.  She represents the over-arching membership-based organization that brings Villages together to share best practices for enabling older adults to live independent, healthy, purposeful lives with connections to their communities. The Network provides expert guidance, resources and support to help communities establish and maintain thriving Villages, and we champion the Village model at state and national levels as a best practice for healthy, vibrant aging.

Howard Shapiro, President and Carl Shuster, Vice President of Villages of the Berkshires, Inc. (VoB) will team up to describe our local Village movement.  Since our formal launch in August 2020, VoB has taken on the mission of enabling people to age in their own home by fostering independence, a sense of security, well-being, and a meaningful life.  As a relatively new member in the Movement, we will talk about how we began and what we see as our future.
