For this fall’s annual history walk, being held in conjunction with the Housatonic Heritage Walks, we will explore the town’s largest cemetery. Established in 1870, St. Patrick’s cemetery is the final resting place of many of our town’s most prominent citizens from the height of the industrial age through the present. For example, the largest funeral procession in South County was for one of St. Patrick’s burials. The cemetery also reveals the changing nature of our population as many of our Italian and Irish immigrants were members of this Catholic church. The walk will be an interesting look at our town’s history and some of its more famous residents.
To register, email info@weststockbridgehistory.org. We will meet at St. Patrick’s cemetery on Route 41 (Albany Road), one mile north of the village center.
